Before you begin the RNI registration process, ensure you have the following documents ready:
Please note: The name of the publisher/owner/applicant entered in the portal should match exactly with the name recorded in their Aadhaar Card to use the e-sign facility.
Step 1: Owner Registration The registration process on the Press Sewa Portal begins with the owner of the proposed periodical. To start, the owner needs to:
Step 2: Visit the Press Sewa Portal.
Step 3: Publisher Appointment
After creating their profile, the owner proceeds to:
•Invite designated publishers by entering their contact information (email address and phone number).
•Publishers are then required to create their own profiles by providing relevant documents and details.
Step 4: Application Submission
Once the profiles are set up, the publisher can submit the registration application. The steps involved are:
•Choose a printer from the Press Sewa database (or request the printer to create a profile if not listed).
•Fill out the main registration form with all required details and documents.
•E-sign the application and complete the process.
•Pay the prescribed fee of ₹1000 through Bharatkosh.
•Upon successful submission, a unique Applicant Reference Number (ARN) will be generated. The publisher can track the application status in real-time using the portal’s dashboard.
After submitting the application and paying the ₹1000 fee, the system will generate a unique 10-digit Applicant Reference Number (ARN). This ARN is crucial for tracking your application status and for all future correspondence with the authorities.
The Press Registrar General’s office will review the application for completeness, fee payment, and adherence to guidelines. If any deficiencies are found, the publisher will be notified within 7 working days. The publisher has 30 days to resolve the deficiencies; otherwise, the application may be rejected.
If the application is rejected, the publisher will be informed online, and they have 10 days to submit a response through the portal. The Press Registrar General will consider the reply before making a final decision.
Once the application is verified and approved, and if there are no further deficiencies, the Press Registrar General will issue a registration certificate. This certificate will be available for instant download via the Press Sewa Portal and will include a QR code for easy verification.
